The City of Sinzig intends to reconstruct and build a new bridge (pedestrian and cycle bridge) to replace the "Christinensteg" bridge in Sinzig, which was destroyed by the 2021 flood. The bridge was temporarily rebuilt on site in 2022 and will need to be dismantled and the dismantling coordinated as part of the contract. The temporary bridge was purchased by the City of Sinzig. Due to existing funding, the sale of the bridge should be pursued. Communication with the funding body will be handled exclusively by GEWI GmbH. Only the coordination and tendering of the bridge's dismantling needs to be considered. Due to separate funding applications, a separate lot must be created for this purpose, so that the costs can be clearly assigned to the respective funding application. The new bridge construction involves a combination of a bridge and a building, as the Rhein-Ahr-Stadion on the opposite bank of the Ahr (north) was also damaged by the flood and needs to be reconstructed (not part of the contract). During the planning of the bridge, there is an interface with the design of the new clubhouse for the Rhein-Ahr-Stadion. The future bridge is to end/connect on the north side of the Ahr in the 2nd floor of the new clubhouse. It was decided during the needs assessment that the building and the bridge should be structurally and statically separated from each other and only connected by a joint/transition construction – this must be taken into account in the planning. The ideas from the feasibility study must therefore be retained and only further developed. In addition, the Ahr is to be widened by approximately 60 m in this area. In the further planning, the widest possible span of the Ahr should be achieved. Piers directly in the Ahr riverbed should be avoided. According to the needs assessment, a bridge structure of approximately 100 m is envisaged. Another constraint in the planning is the southern connection of the bridge, as the pedestrian and cycle bridge serves as a direct route for schoolchildren and connects to the Ahr cycle path (south side of the Ahr). Therefore, the southern point must be chosen so that a bridge without large radii is created and ends at the height of the school centre. Furthermore, it must be taken into account that due to the widening of the Ahr, the Ahr cycle path located to the south will also have to be moved and integrated into the connection point on the southern side. It should be noted that the property Flur 11, parcel 770/153 is not owned by the City of Sinzig. Further constraints could be the existing high-voltage power line on the southern side. Another difficulty in the project is the timing, as the widening of the Ahr should ideally take place in parallel. In this case, a joint tender for earthworks would be desirable, so that earthworks for the widening can be integrated into the planning services. The planning of the Ahr widening is not part of the contract and will be carried out by the Ahrweiler district administration. The widening is scheduled for approximately summer 2027. The open space of the Rhein-Ahr-Stadion is to be completed by spring 2027, and the building of the Rhein-Ahr-Stadion is expected to be completed by the end of 2027/beginning of 2028.
