Belgium – Architectural, engineering and planning services – Ondersteuning van BIM-modelleurs voor omzetten plannen van Autocad naar Revit van Campus Gasthuisberg
Description
The supporting services (facilities, logistics, technical, prevention) rely on a digital campus model and planning book for various applications. Whereas a few years ago, work was mainly done in 2D or 2.5D, today a 3D drawing package is the standard. In terms of BIM (Building Information Modelling) – and linking intelligent information to building, installation, or equipment elements – there are new possibilities. Today, the drafting department of the technical service manages all plan and data material for infrastructure (buildings and environment, technical installations, and equipment) for both projects and operations. This concerns approximately 830,000 m² of as-built plan information in more than 5,000 plans. There are 79 building sections. The Contracting Authority wishes to completely replace the current drafting software (AutoCAD Architecture & MEP (= Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing)), which has been used within UZ Leuven for more than 20 years to integrate various AutoCad layers (architecture, electricity, HVAC,…), with Revit. The recent new construction projects on the Gasthuisberg campus have already been/are being designed in Revit. This concretely means that it will be necessary to convert all plans, both AutoCAD and scanned plans of the existing infrastructure of the Gasthuisberg campus (all building sections, technical installations, and equipment) realised before 2024 and drawn in AutoCad Architecture & MEP, to the new Revit software package. This contract includes the following: The Contractor supports the CAD/BIM team of the Contracting Authority in converting and modelling existing plan material (AutoCAD and scanned PDF/TIF plans) into integrated Revit models for 79 building sections on the Gasthuisberg campus. The Contractor provides partial on-site presence of its employees at the Contracting Authority. This is necessary since the as-built processing of the models is also included in this contract. The Contracting Authority provides an access badge and flexible workspace. The Contractor provides the hardware and required software. For the storage and exchange of the models, Autodesk Docs, provided by the Contracting Authority, is used, which grants the necessary access. The contract consists of two phases: Phase 1: Converting 2D/2.5D architecture AutoCAD to 3D Revit via IFC During the switch from AutoCAD to Revit, not only the conversion is involved, but also the review of the correctness of the architecture based on available plan material, as well as the conversion of the polylines. Phase 1 is executed in 2 months. Phase 2: Converting stability and techniques to Revit - Stability: converting the current plan material (2D AutoCAD and/or scanned pdf/tif plans) to 3D Revit; - Dry techniques: converting 2D AutoCAD to 2D Revit; - Wet techniques: - converting pipes in 2D AutoCAD to 2D Revit (pipes at "ground level"); - converting HVAC from 2D AutoCAD to 3D Revit. Phase 2 is executed in 22 months. Infrastructure, such as external roads, green zones, and sewerage, are not included. The LOD (Level of Development) level will be determined according to the contract. The final result of this contract is: - Revit files per building section, according to the structure of the campus model; - IFC export; - Reporting of deviations, missing information, or uncertainties.
