Within the framework of the "Generalsanierung Bremen – Bremerhaven" programme, the Bremen–Bremerhaven (1740) line is being comprehensively modernised.

Track renewal:

- Track renewal with subgrade improvement: 11,666 m

- Track renewal without subgrade improvement: 32,135 m

Points renewal:

- Points renewal without PSS: 62 points

- Points renewal with PSS: 9 points

- New points with PSS: 12 points

- Points with only sleeper replacement: 4 points

- Points removal with gap closure: 2 points

New deep drainage system

- Drainage channel: 2,522 m

- Deep drainage shafts: 91 units

- Soakaways: 67.3 m

Level crossings

- 1:1 replacement

- Renovation of the pedestrian underpass (PU) and infilling of the post tunnel at Bremerhaven Hbf; LST escort works including the establishment of a construction track and OLA escort works
