Description

The City of Löhne intends to convert the reception building of Löhne Station into a "Third Place". The partially listed reception building of Löhne Station was constructed in the years 1913 onwards. It is a large structure composed of several parts with a central reception hall, adjacent to which are a two-storey east wing and a similarly two-storey west wing, which formerly housed offices, waiting rooms of various classes, rooms for post, customs and police, as well as the supervisor's living quarters. The areas of the former waiting rooms and the west wing are cellared. The building was constructed in dark red brick, with the individual parts provided with hipped and gabled roofs. The façades are subtly articulated by pilasters and cornices. The gable side with the main entrance is particularly emphasised by the use of decorative brick bonds and a vividly designed gable cornice. As part of this construction project, the station building will be fundamentally renovated, converted and extended.
