Germany – Architectural, engineering and planning services – 31.4 Fachplanung KG 450 TGA-IT
Description
Award of specialist planning services for technical equipment (LPh2-LPh3, LPh5-LPh8 according to HOAI §55, AGr 5 according to HOAI §53 and §54) / Renovation of Building 31.4, Modernization of DataCenter Infrastructures of the Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin in the Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft on the Campus Berlin-Buch. Renovation of Computer Centers Building 31.4: MDC1. The commissioning of MDC1 took place in 2012. There is a high backlog of renovation in the air conditioning and electrical distribution systems. The following measures are required: • Renovation of system components (PDU) for energy measurement, evaluation and control. A measurement concept according to EN50600 (DataCenter standard) with detail level 3 (data capture per IT component) and a capacity management of the power line load is to be implemented. • Measures to ensure secure access to the cabinet-internal server systems. In the case of closure, a concept with an electromechanical design with RFID- and/or token-based calculation release should be aimed for. • The environmental safety of the room should be validated according to the recommendations of the Federal Office for Security according to the basic protection requirements and, in coordination with the AG, appropriate measures (video surveillance, sector alarm...) should be planned and implemented. MDC2. The commissioning of MDC2 took place in 2015. Since the system requirements of third parties have been reduced, the freed-up areas can be used for IT systems of the MDC. The optimization of the systems for heat dissipation, using the operating experience, the efforts to reuse the heat and the installation of more efficient IT technology require a re-planning of the systems. The following measures are to be implemented: • For the use of the areas, the IT climate concept in the room must be adapted. So far, the rack cooling for high-end server systems is carried out by 35 passive climate rear doors. This climate concept is not usable for standard server and storage systems. A modernization by active climate rear doors is aimed for. • To ensure proper operation, the installed smoke extraction systems (RAS) must be modernized. These currently cause an automatic shutdown of racks in the event of a fault detection. • Measures to ensure secure access to the cabinet-internal server systems. In the case of closure, a concept with an electromechanical design with RFID- and/or token-based calculation release should be aimed for. • Specialist support of the client in the procurement of a closed IT rack solution in the form of a modular, standardized system component (hereinafter System Building Block or equivalent modular system solution) with an equipment scope of 1-2 KI servers, in order to gain technical and organizational experience with water-cooled IT systems. The aim is to create the basis for the later use in the planned HGF/ZIB Data Center (location Adlershof, commissioning from 2032) within the MDC. This includes in particular the creation of a technical specification and the support of the associated VgV negotiation procedure as a technical consultant in an exclusively advisory and supportive function; the implementation of the tendering procedure and the procurement remain with the client. The overall integration of the IT system components into the building technology infrastructure (in particular power supply, cooling and building automation) must be ensured by close coordination between the specialist planners involved. The planning must also be carried out with strict observance of product and manufacturer neutrality. Influence by supplier or manufacturer interests must be excluded. The planned measures are characterized as follows in summary: 1. Type of construction measure: Construction in existing buildings (renovation / partial conversion); 2. GFA MDC1 approx. 160m², MDC2 approx. 125m² 3. Estimated costs KGr 400 / KGr 600 according to DIN 276 total: approx. 4.2 million EUR net; estimated costs for the tendered measures in KGr 600 according to DIN 276: approx. 2.67 million EUR net (incl. approx. 0.5 million € for procurement of closed rack solution). The costs shown in cost groups 400 and 600 according to DIN 276 are only part of the contract to the extent that the contractor is obliged to provide planning, coordination or specialist advisory services. The subject of the present procedure is the award of specialist planning services for technical equipment (LPh2-LPh3, LPh5-LPh8 according to HOAI §55, AGr 5 according to HOAI §53 and §54) as well as selected special services. The award is made in stages (see II.2.11). Optional services: see item II.2.11. Forecast period: 1. Commissioning: 10/2026 2. Completion LPh5: 02/2027 3. Construction of computer centers: 06/2027 to 11/2027 4. Project completion: subsequently
