Netherlands – Construction work – Energiesysteem Campus Oost

The Wageningen Campus will be expanded by realising the ‘Campus Oost’ area development in the Born Oost area. Within Campus Oost, a total of approximately 80,000 m2 of gross floor area (GFA) is planned for new knowledge-intensive business. This knowledge-intensive business will be realised by selling approximately 5 to 8 plots to investors or organisations that will establish themselves within the knowledge ecosystem of Wageningen Campus. The Wageningen Research Foundation will remain the owner of the land between the plots, the green spaces, and the infrastructure in the planning area. Since WUR will not be the end-user of the energy system to be installed, significant long-term involvement is not logical. However, given WUR's central role in the development of Campus Oost, a facilitating role is important. By outsourcing the design, financing, installation, management, and operation of the energy system to an Energy Service Company (ESCo) through a Concession, Wageningen Campus can facilitate this process.
