Description

The subject of the contract comprises two high-performance computing systems and associated network and storage infrastructure, including services, product servers (optional), maintenance, software equipment, infrastructure, and external data centre space (server housing/co-location). The systems are distributed across the following locations: ▪ DMRZ Offenbach am Main (DMRZ-OF) ▪ External Co-Location Site (DMRZ-EX) ▪ DMRZ Potsdam (DMRZ-PD, optional) ▪ DMRZ Euskirchen (DMRZ-EU, optional) The availability of the systems at each location must be at least 95%, and the combined availability of production at the DMRZ-OF and DMRZ-EX locations must be 99.9%. The provision of the external housing (co-location) is for the accommodation of the second, independent HPC system for research and climate calculations, possibly a KI training cluster, a data management system, and other systems of the German Weather Service (DWD, contracting entity). The creation of the overall system is divided into the following phases: ▪ Phase 0: Migration phase, acceptance, system service ▪ Phase 1: System service, performance enhancement and acceptance ▪ Phase 2: System service, optional performance enhancement and acceptance ▪ Phase 3 (optional): Continued operation, possible performance enhancement and acceptance ▪ Post-contract end (optional): Dismantling, disposal and removal of the systems The decision as to whether the DMRZ-Euskirchen option will be exercised by the German Weather Service will be made no later than the award. The detailed description and all requirements are contained in the annexes "Performance Description" and "Performance Matrix" and will be made available to the interested party upon submission of the confidentiality agreement.
