Description

The Foundation Luther Memorials in Saxony-Anhalt is renovating the Luther House in the Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The project is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) with federal funds, as well as by the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. The renovation aims to improve energy efficiency and enhance tourist accessibility. The Wittenberg Luther House houses the world's largest Reformation history museum with extensive collections of paintings, writings, and exhibits from the Reformation period, as well as testimonies of the reception history of Martin Luther and the Reformation. As part of the energy renovation and tourist development, the permanent exhibition will be reconceived and the exhibition rooms will be redesigned. This includes the entrance area for visitors to the Luther House. This entrance area is the "competition area". For the entrance area, the Foundation Luther Memorials in Saxony-Anhalt, as the client, is launching a competition for art in architecture. The purpose of the art in architecture competition is to find the best solution for a contemporary artistic project in the entrance hall of the redesigned Luther House Museum. The implementation of the artistic project in the Luther House can take place according to the construction schedule in the 2nd quarter of 2027 and should be completed by 30.06.2027. The announcement of the competition follows the guidelines of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building. (see: Binding requirements for art in architecture, urban development and building cultural projects and standard settings for federal construction, as of 07/2024 – BMWSB, BI5-71017/16#3) and is based on the Guidelines for Planning Competitions (RPW 2013).
