The city of Bacharach intends to carry out the section-by-section renovation of the historic city wall, including individual wall sections, towers, and adjacent supporting structures. To this end, the city had a renovation concept prepared, which is part of the tender and contract documents. The renovation concept of the Schwab-Lemke planning office serves as the basis for the further procedure of the upcoming construction measures for the renovation of the city wall. However, it should be noted that not all wall sections defined there will be renovated. Further prioritization has been carried out. A summary of the components according to the renovation concept has been made into 6 construction sections, which are to be implemented. Accordingly, only these 6 construction sections are the subject of the tender. Reference is made to the enclosed "Explanation of the Renovation of the City Wall of Bacharach", which is also part of the tender and contract documents. The following construction sections have been defined as the subject of the contract in the aforementioned explanation:

BA 1: Rhine side - Arcade passage from Münztor to Zollstraße: The city wall on the Rhine side shows extensive damage, which is mainly due to the lack of water drainage in the area of the arcade passage. In individual sections, urgent measures to secure the structure have recently been carried out, which did not allow for any delay. Approval for the grant-neutral early start of measures is available. The Rhine-side city wall including the arcade passage is to be implemented as the first of six construction sections due to the damage pattern and the associated urgency. Goals according to ISEK: Technical and optical upgrading of the arcade path on the city wall (sealing, water management, slate covering). Renovation of the wall and the staircases.

BA 2: Steeger Tor - Postenturm: Goals according to ISEK (Data Sheet 3.2.3): Sustainable restoration of the city wall to preserve the cultural heritage of the city of Bacharach and its tourist use. This section of the city wall is assigned to the first priority according to the assessment.

BA 3: Postenturm - Spitzer Turm: This measure is not part of the ISEK. However, the inventory has shown that the wall section in the unsanitised area is particularly in need of restoration. The plaster on the tower is cracked and dilapidated, in parts there are salt efflorescences. The wall head is heavily overgrown and the masonry is fissured. Falling masonry parts endanger traffic safety.

BA 4: Steeger Tor - Liebesturm: This measure is not part of the ISEK. However, the inventory has shown that the wall section at the Liebesturm is severely damaged and is assigned to the first priority according to the assessment. Partial joint replacement is required, the plaster is to be secured restoratively - slate covering is to be renewed.

BA 5: Spitzer Turm - Koblenzer Str.: Goals according to ISEK: The objective of closing the city wall circular path is to enhance the tourist value of the regionally significant city wall area in terms of building history and cultural landscape. Making the city wall accessible is therefore an important component of urban development. According to the inventory examination, the overhaul of the wall head is the first priority for the renovation of the wall. The remaining masonry is assigned to priority 3.

BA 6: Diebesturm - Münzturm: This measure is not part of the ISEK. However, the inventory has shown that both the Diebesturm and the city wall between the Diebesturm and the Münzturm are in urgent need of restoration. The hut attached to the Diebesturm is also dilapidated. This construction section is assigned to implementation priority 1. Extensive restoration measures are recommended.
