Description

This contract concerns the design and supply of two cofferdams with a span of 14 metres to allow the drying out of the locks on the Haut-Escaut, belonging to the Walloon Region (sites of Kain and Hérinnes). The existing structures, built in the 1920s, are designed to accommodate a maximum class Va river traffic. The two locks have a similar design, so the cofferdams must be compatible with both structures. For information, their design is also similar to that of the locks at Berchem, Audenarde and Asper in Flanders. The water heights to be considered for the design of the metal structures are also comparable between the different sites. A cofferdam may consist of several distinct elements, assembled together by means of watertight joints. The total height of a cofferdam is set at 6 metres. The cofferdams must be designed in accordance with the applicable regulations, and in particular the Eurocodes. Particular attention will be paid to the number of joints in the cofferdam, which represent as many weak points for watertightness, and to the unit weight of the components, as the sites are difficult to access for large-capacity lifting equipment. The contract includes, in particular: The verification of all dimensions on site necessary for the production of workshop drawings; The supply of a complete execution calculation note including a note on handling; The manufacture of the cofferdams in the workshop; The transport of the cofferdams to their storage site (located in Kain, Hérinnes or other SPW VH Tournai site to be defined). The supply of a good practice note relating to the life of the structure, including in particular the prescriptions concerning storage, the replacement of joints, anti-corrosion painting and the safety instructions for handling operations as well as the "As-built" file. The overall contract execution period is set at 240 calendar days and starts on the date set by the service order, in accordance with Article 116 of the present C.S.C.
