The construction project to be monitored is the new construction of the Rudersdorfer Tunnel (project code: RUT) on section 2800 Hagen Hbf – Haiger between km 117,630 and km 120,282. The existing Rudersdorfer Tunnel, dating from 1915, does not meet the current requirements for a two-track operation in terms of cross-sectional geometry (track spacing currently only approx. 3.5 m). In addition, the tunnel has significant damage, particularly in the lining masonry. It is planned to replace the tunnel with two single-track, electrified tunnel tubes. The two tunnel tubes are spaced approximately 30 m apart and are located 70 m southwest of the existing Rudersdorfer Tunnel. The replacement new construction of the tunnel structure requires a route change. This will necessitate new cutting areas at both portals with corresponding new embankment formation. The existing tunnel will be filled with excavated material after the new tunnel is commissioned. The project is currently in the performance phase 6/7. The start of construction for the main construction work is planned for the first half of 2027. Commissioning is planned for the timetable change in 2032.
