The city of Saalfeld/Saale intends to carry out the comprehensive reconstruction of the Knochstraße, starting at the intersection of Knochstraße/Helenenstraße/Grüne Mitte and extending east of the intersection of Knochstraße/Reschwitzer Straße/Tiefer Weg. The planned reconstruction length is approximately 750 m. The construction measure is planned as a joint measure with the ZWA Saalfeld-Rudolstadt and the Saalfeder Energienetze. The ZWA Saalfeld-Rudolstadt will renew both mixed water channels and the drinking water pipes, including the house connection pipes, as part of the construction measure. Saalfeder Energienetze GmbH intends to partially renew the gas pipes, dismantle the ELT overhead lines, lay new cables, and renew old house connections. In parallel with the planned road reconstruction, the city of Saalfeld/Saale plans to renew the Köditzbach culvert, which crosses the Knochstraße north of the intersection of Knochstraße/Brucknerstraße. The Knochstraße is an important inner-city road. It has the character of an extended main traffic road in the road network of the city of Saalfeld/Saale. In addition, the Knochstraße has scheduled bus services operated by KomBus GmbH. The existing carriageway widths in the planning area range from a minimum of 6.00 m to a maximum of 6.80 m. The traffic space widths range from a minimum of 10.20 m to a maximum of 12.80 m. The carriageway is currently edged with granite curbs of varying heights. The carriageway is paved with bitumen. The sidewalks, which are located on both sides, are partially paved with bitumen and partially with concrete paving. The accesses to the properties are predominantly paved with bitumen and partially with granite paving. Parking is permitted on the eastern carriageway edge in the section from the intersection of Helenenstraße to the intersection of Brunnenstraße, with the eastern sidewalk being used jointly. The cross-section of the road predominantly has a cambered profile. The road drainage is handled via street inlets arranged on both sides of the road edges. The street inlets are connected to the mixed water channel system of the ZWA Saalfeld-Rudolstadt. There is a one-sided street lighting system in the construction area. The locations are in the area of the rear edge of the eastern sidewalk. The road has a variety of defects with longitudinal, transverse, and network cracks in the planned reconstruction area. There are partial deformations of the asphalt pavement, particularly in the edge areas. There are not enough road drainage systems, and they are in poor condition. The sidewalks have partial significant unevenness. North of the intersection of Knochstraße/Brucknerstraße, the Köditzbach, a body of water of the second order, crosses the Knochstraße. The existing Köditzbach culvert is in poor condition and is not sufficiently dimensioned hydraulically due to varying cross-sectional dimensions. Therefore, the renewal of the Köditzbach culvert in the construction area is necessary and planned as part of the planned road reconstruction. A uniform carriageway width of 7.00 m is planned for the comprehensive reconstruction of the Knochstraße. This specification takes into account that cycling takes place on the carriageway. The arrangement of a separately guided cycle path is not possible due to the insufficient space widths. There are two bus stops in the area of the restaurant "Am Köditzbrunnen" (inbound and outbound). The planned construction measure includes the barrier-free design of the bus stops. The road surface will be constructed according to the guidelines for the standardisation of the road surface RStO 12/24. According to the current design situation (connecting road, local access road - HS III, HS IV), the traffic load and the bus traffic, the Knochstraße is classified in the load class 3.2 according to RASt. The measure is to be implemented in three construction sections: 1. Section: 2027 - Helenenstraße to just before Richterstraße; 2. Section: 2028 - intersection Richterstraße to Brunnenstraße; 3. Section: 2029 - Brunnenstraße to Tiefer Weg. Construction costs of approximately 3.2 million euros (net) are estimated for the planned measure.
