Germany – Landscaping work – Stiftung Schloss Marienburg: Bauabschnitt 2: Garten- und Landschaftsbau: Oberbauschichten

The Foundation Schloss Marienburg intends to carry out the restoration of the castle. The building is a listed monument. The historical fabric of the building is to be preserved and maintained. The requirements of monument protection demand particular care and caution from all companies involved in the construction, and close coordination with the construction management.

Restoration of Schloss Marienburg, construction sections 2.1 slope stabilisation and 2.2 South Terrace - landscaping works for the creation of top layers, paving and drainage systems. The services include, in particular, earthworks, creation of soil structures, brick paving and water-bound road surfaces, sealing and drainage works, drainage pipes and channels, as well as disposal and documentation.

The slope area to be restored consists of a solid rock wall of sandstone up to approximately 13 m high and inclined at up to approximately 65° to the horizontal. In the upper part of the slope, there is a historical arcade, which is supported on the slope by means of a vaulted construction. Due to ingress of water and vegetation, parts of the rock surface have become detached, as a result of which the bearing points of the supporting corbel stones are partially no longer present. The arcade is currently propped up by a steel construction and is closed. As part of the restoration, the soil structure of the arcade, including paving, sealing and drainage, will be renewed. In construction section 2.2, the South Terrace is to be made usable. For this purpose, the existing concrete surface will be removed and a new soil structure with a water-bound road surface will be created. The measures also include the renewal of the drainage system and the creation of the necessary top layers on the reinforced concrete slabs. The works will be carried out with particular consideration of monument protection and the historical fabric of the building.
