Description

The Betuwe Line is already completed in the Netherlands and is being expanded in Germany as the ABS border NL/D - Emmerich - Oberhausen. The feasibility study (MBS) is intended to evaluate the impacts of a route realignment ("Optimised Trackbed Variant") proposed by a citizens' initiative, compared to the previous planning, mainly with regard to delays and additional costs. With regard to costs, it is to be examined, among other things, whether all relevant costs have been taken into account in the MBS "Optimised Trackbed Variant". This also includes, for example, the planning costs. In addition, it must be examined whether the proposed variant can be implemented in accordance with the applicable law. This includes, for example, the relevant regulations at federal and state level (in particular B8 and L472) as well as impacts on third parties, for example through necessary land acquisition, nature, water, etc.
