France – Engineering works and construction works – RD 914 - Elne Argelès sur Mer // Création d'une voie Modes Doux de Franchissement du Tech

The RD914 has been widened to 2x2 lanes with the aim of upgrading it to a dual carriageway between Perpignan and Argelès sur Mer. Due to a lack of continuity for some users, certain sections of this road have not been able to be upgraded to a dual carriageway. This is the case for the section located between PR 14+348 and PR 15+477. With over 26,500 vehicles per day in winter and 37,500 vehicles per day in summer, the use of this stretch by soft modes, mopeds and agricultural vehicles represents a significant challenge from a road safety perspective. The project involves the creation of a crossing of the Tech, in the commune of Elne, in order to eliminate this discontinuity for existing cycle networks. The structure is a mixed, twin-girder bridge, with a total length of 183.40 m. The Departmental Council, in a drive to promote employment and combat exclusion, has committed to a proactive policy of integrating people looking for work or at risk of exclusion. To this end, it has decided to call on its privileged partners, namely businesses, to promote access to employment for these people, through the implementation of the professional integration clause ("social clause"), a contractual condition that binds the contractor according to the provisions set out in the contract. The services are paid for by unit prices.
