Replacement new construction of the Heinrich-Weitz Bridge in Linnich

The Heinrich-Weitz Bridge was built in 1949 and, in the years prior to the flood event, had been rated with condition grades of 3.3 and even 4.0 due to extensive damage and durability issues in the recurring bridge inspections. Immediately after the flood situation, the bridge underwent a special assessment and was ultimately closed to all traffic. Since then, the Rurstraße, which runs centrally through Linnich, has been interrupted and is no longer usable for residents, as well as for delivery and transit traffic. Therefore, there is a need for the rapid dismantling of the existing structure and the construction of a replacement new build to restore full use of the transport routes.
