The Ethnological Museum in Berlin-Dahlem stores its non-European collections, which are among the largest, oldest and most important in the world, in its main depots on four floors of the so-called building section 4 (BT 4). BT 4 requires urgent roof and facade renovation, fire protection upgrading, and repair of the building's technical equipment (heating, ventilation, electricity). For this, the depot areas must be completely cleared and the collections temporarily stored on interim areas for the duration of the renovation. The collection relocation will take place within the building complex. The interim areas used will be building sections 2A (BT 2A), 2B (BT 2B) and 3 (BT 3). The depot equipment from BT 4 will be reused for the interim storage as far as possible. After the renovation is completed, the depots in BT 4 will be re-equipped and the collections will be returned.
