The subject of the competition is the design of a new multifunctional urban building on náměstí Republiky in Tachov. The new building will replace the existing Dům potravin, whose technical condition, layout, and architectural quality no longer meet current requirements and will be demolished. The goal of the competition is to find a high-quality, contemporary, and realistic architectural design that will have a social and cultural benefit, bring new impulses to the city centre, strengthen its attractiveness, contribute to the cultivation of the space, and naturally connect with the character of the historic environment of the urban monument zone. The design should naturally complement the urban structure of the historic core and elegantly connect with the character of the place. The house should be confident and humble, express its language of contemporaneity, but also respect for the urban monument zone into which it enters, and create a natural part of the cultural memory layer of Tachov. The selected participant emerging from the design competition will subsequently be awarded the complete contract for the processing of all phases of the project documentation and necessary related services, which are a condition for the successful implementation and operation of the urban building, and this at the optimisation of costs and quality of the building with regard to its entire life cycle. The contracting authority expects the implementation of the contract immediately after the completion of the design competition.
