Belgium – Soil-decontamination work – Voormalig zuurteerstort te Kerkwijk 9030 Mariakerke: opmaak bodemsaneringsproject, begeleiding en uitvoering van de bodemsaneringswerken

The site to be remediated is located in the ‘Kerkwijk’ in Mariakerke (Gent). To the north and east of the site are residential homes. To the south, bordering the site, is the Rietgracht. The site is located in an area that belongs to the Flemish Ecological Network, namely the Valley of the Lower Leie, to which the Bourgoyen belongs. The contamination originates from a former acid tar dump that was used in the 1960s for the disposal of rubble and acid tar, a by-product that arises during oil production.

The Contract has as its object, on the one hand, the preparation of a soil remediation project and project-MER and, on the other hand, the execution, supervision and safety coordination of the soil remediation works described in this soil remediation project (including monitoring and any follow-up care). The remediation objectives defined in the Selection Guideline and the Technical Specification must be achieved, so that ultimately the remediation can be completed. The Contractor will therefore enter into a performance commitment with OVAM for this.
