Renovation and expansion of the Westpfalz-Klinikum in Kirchheimbolanden

The Westpfalz-Klinikum is located on the western outskirts of Kirchheimbolanden and consists of several buildings of different ages. The oldest part of the complex is the Bed Tower 5 and the treatment building (outpatient clinics + operating theatre) to the north, both from the mid-1950s. In the 1990s, extensions were added to the operating theatre department, the entrance area with cafeteria/staff canteen and the intensive care unit. From 2000 onwards, extensions were added to the delivery room, followed by the outpatient operating theatre centre and the new senior physician area in 2011. As the last building block, a 4-storey medical centre was built directly adjacent to the emergency department. To the south, east and north are residential areas, to the west there is no building in the immediate vicinity, but green meadows and fields that lead uphill to forested areas.

As part of the planned measure, the hospital will receive a new building on the eastern side of the clinic, as well as an extension in a north-eastern building section.
