Netherlands – Construction work of elevated tanks for drinking water – 2026.0019 Nieuwbouw DPS Appingedam

Project Description

At our distribution station DPS Appingedam, we will replace the existing 4 clean water tanks with 3 new concrete clean water reservoirs. The new reservoirs each have a surface area of 20x30 meters. The pipe space for reservoir one and two is 5.2 by 11.4 meters. For reservoir 3, the pipe space is the same size as for reservoir one and two. This is in preparation for a possible 4th reservoir in the future. The height of the reservoirs is 5 meters from floor to the underside of the ceiling. The floor is approximately 40cm thick and the ceiling approximately 30cm. The height of the pipe space is approximately 2.6m below ground level and approximately 8.4 meters above ground level. The total net capacity of each reservoir is approximately 2700m³ per reservoir. Approximately 300 bored piles will be installed under the reservoirs. The piles will be bored to a depth of approximately 22-23 meters below ground level. Part of the construction is also the installation of the filling and drainage pipes to each reservoir. These pipes, with a diameter of 500mm, will be connected to the existing pump building. Ground-level shut-off valves are included in these pipes, and the pipe space will contain the specific appendages and instruments such as adjustable shut-off valves and, among others, pressure and flow and pressure measurements. The overflow pipe also leads into the reservoirs at the required heights. From the reservoirs, through the pipe space, there is an overflow pipe approximately 600mm in diameter running backwards towards the existing ditch. The reservoirs will be controlled from our business automation system, and the necessary installation of cabling and hardware is also part of this work. To complete the work in its entirety, the entire site of approximately 80x130m will be completely re landscaped. This includes attention to soil structure, functionality, biodiversity and area-specific layout. The work will be carried out in three phases. Build reservoirs 1 and 2 at once, build reservoir 3 including pipe space and, as the final phase, complete the site. The demolition of the existing reservoirs will be carried out by the client.
