The Kröpeliner Tor in the Hanseatic and University City of Rostock at Kröpeliner Straße 50 is a prominent individual monument and one of the landmarks of Rostock. The last noteworthy restoration (exterior) was carried out in 1991. After 34 years, damage to the facade is now visible and individual facade fragments are detaching. After initial on-site inspections of the west facade and views from the roof exit, the KOE had to temporarily prohibit the use of the Kröpeliner Tor for reasons of traffic safety and erect a provisional barrier as pedestrian protection. At present, the Kröpeliner Tor is fully scaffolded and fully covered with a tarp. For further work on the facade and roof of the Kröpeliner Tor, an inspection of the stability of the roof truss and the exterior walls is necessary.
