Germany – IT services: consulting, software development, Internet and support – NGA-Breitbandausbau-Spangenberg

The subject of this tender is the commissioning of a company to build and operate a gigabit infrastructure in the "grey NGA areas" of the city of Spangenberg. The gigabit-capable high-performance network to be built must ensure that the addresses designated in the expansion area are supplied with a bandwidth of at least 1 Gbit/s symmetrically (minimum bandwidth). The minimum bandwidth is achieved if it is provided at the termination point of the line technology in the building. The market survey conducted confirmed that the construction and operation of such a gigabit-capable high-performance network in the expansion area cannot be depicted on a self-sustaining basis. For this reason, the granting authority is willing to provide the private telecommunications company with a one-time, non-repayable investment grant to cover its economic viability gap (so-called "economic viability gap model"). The granting authority has submitted a funding application for this purpose within the framework of the federal funding programme "Funding to support the gigabit expansion of telecommunications networks in the Federal Republic of Germany - Gigabit Guideline 2.0" dated 13.01.2025 and has been provisionally granted funding.
