The Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis in Mosbach plans the comprehensive renovation of the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule, Kaufmännische Schulen Mosbach, in a central location in the city centre at Katzenhorn. The comprehensive renovation includes buildings A and B with approximately 8,015 m² of gross floor area from the 1970s. The gymnasium is not part of the renovation. The buildings of the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule are in the immediate vicinity of the buildings of the Pestalozzi-Realschule, the Nikolaus-Kistner-Gymnasium, the outdoor pool and the Jahnhalle. The property is bounded by a large car park on Hammerweg, Jean de la Fontaine Straße, the Elz stream, which divides the city area, and the outdoor pool area. The energy supply of the school site is currently provided by a transformer station located in the building, a PV system and a connection to the local district heating network. As part of a feasibility study in 2024, the feasibility of an energy-efficient renovation and modernisation of buildings A and B was examined. This should also take into account the improvement of accessibility, inter alia, by the construction of a lift. Technical systems have been maintained and partially renewed during the period of use, but are now to be newly conceived and, if necessary, completely renewed as part of the comprehensive renovation. In particular, the building envelope of the buildings, which were constructed in reinforced concrete skeleton design, is to be energetically optimised. As part of the comprehensive renovation, the fire protection properties of the buildings and the existing building structures are also to be re-evaluated. For the duration of the comprehensive renovation during ongoing school operations, a partial relocation of classes to a container system is planned.
