Germany – Preservation services of exhibits – Stiftung Schloss Marienburg: Vergabe von Restaurierungsleistungen im Rahmen der Umsetzung des Masterplans MB2030

The "Marienburg 2030" project began in 2020 with the aim of using Marienburg Castle as a public museum. The starting point was the transfer of the historic property and its inventory from the private ownership of the House of Hanover to the Marienburg Castle Foundation. This is accompanied by the obligation to make the cultural heritage permanently accessible to the public, to scientifically explore it and to preserve it in a manner appropriate to its historic significance. With the development of a corresponding feasibility study, the extensive cultural assets were recorded and the necessary curatorial and restorative basic structures for the future museum operation were established. Following the positive result of this preliminary study, the interdisciplinary development of a detailed master plan began in 2022. The core of this museum concept is a varied and informative tour through the historic castle rooms. To implement this concept, the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and the State of Lower Saxony are providing funds for the restoration of the future exhibits. This enables the Marienburg Castle Foundation to tender for conservation and restoration services for the first 45 future exhibition items, divided into 17 lots. (see Annex 1 Lots 01-17 of the tender documents). As part of the preservation and safeguarding of works of art and cultural assets, the restoration services are now to be awarded. The subject of the service is in particular the conservation and, if necessary, the restoration measures.
