Belgium – Soil-decontamination work – Sanering van met PFAS vervuilde grond op site BBEPP

Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant vzwBelgiumPublished on Aug 16, 2026
No deadline given

Description

Candidate selection for: Contract for works for the remediation of PFAS-contaminated soil on a BBEPP site. Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant plans to build a water purification installation on an acquired plot of land. However, the plot is contaminated with PFAS, which means that remediation must first take place. As part of the land transfer, the following documents have already been drawn up and approved by OVAM:

• Preliminary soil survey (OBO)

• Descriptive soil survey (BBO)

• Remediation cost estimate for the expedited transfer procedure

In parallel with this tender, a project is underway with a soil expert to draw up a soil remediation project (BSP). To save time, it has been decided not to wait for this BSP, but to launch this tender with estimated quantities. A approved BSP will be available at the start of the works.

Scope of the works includes:

• Earthworks: Excavation of 1800m³ of PFAS-contaminated soil. The concentrations of contamination vary greatly: PFAS total between 3µg/kg DS and 2500µg/kg DS, with an average around 500µg/kg DS. Therefore, it is advisable to divide the soil into different batches with an equal degree of contamination, and to treat these batches separately with the best available technique.

• Groundwater: Excavation should be carried out to a maximum of 2m below ground level. The groundwater level is at 3-4 meters below ground level, so groundwater pumping is not required.

• Soil remediation: Transport and clean or dispose of excavated soil

• Post-treatment: Fill with clean soil and level

Note: The figures given are estimated quantities. Exact figures will only be available after the BSP has been drawn up.
