Switzerland – Highway maintenance work – N09.56 MP-210003 - St.Maurice - Pont sur le Rhône - Travaux principaux de renforcement du Pont sur le Rhône - St. Maurice (ID 11814)

The present contract concerns the preparatory works (VoMa measures) on the Rhône bridge in Saint-Maurice, located on the motorway section N09.56 Bex-Nord – Martigny. It involves two cable-stayed bridges, one per carriageway, which allow motorway N09 to cross the Rhône between the tunnels under Arzillier (right bank) on the Vaud side and the covered slot of Saint-Maurice (left bank) on the Valais side. They require targeted reinforcement and maintenance measures. The measures include (non-exhaustive list): the reinforcement and protection of the pylons by means of a lining made of ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC), the reinforcement of the pylon heads with a steel box and prestressed crossbeams, the insertion of rock anchors into the anchor blocks of the cable stays, the reinforcement of the Valais abutment of the upstream bridge by means of an external prestressing, and the replacement of the bearings, the local reinforcement of the steel structure of the longitudinal girders and the anchor wedges of the cable stays, the replacement of the retaining devices on the bridges and their ends.
