The project for Supplementary Measure 17 (NeM17) is necessitated by the infrastructure requirement on the outer branches of the existing S-Bahn network, which arises from the operating programme to be applied from the commissioning of the 2nd S-Bahn main line. With the 2nd S-Bahn main line, the new construction of a double-track S-Bahn line, starting at the passenger station Munich-Laim and ending at the station part Munich-Leuchtenbergring, with the intermediate stops Hauptbahnhof Bahnhofplatz, Marienhof and Ostbahnhof, is being pursued as an overall project. To ensure the feasibility of the operating programme, a second track will be built on the east side of the existing track between the Hp Steinebach and the Bf Seefeld-Hechendorf. The track systems, engineering structures, and technical equipment will be adapted or expanded for double-track operation. The project also includes the barrier-free development of the Steinebach transport station. Furthermore, noise protection measures are included between the Bf Weßling and Bf Herrsching. The project will be implemented in the area of route 5541 km 18.800 – 30.890. It is located in the municipalities of Weßling, Seefeld, Wörthsee and Herrsching a. Ammersee in the district of Starnberg, Bavaria.
