Spain – Building construction work – Concesión de obra, para la redacción del proyecto y dirección facultativa, construcción y explotación del Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Madrid

Within the framework of the competences attributed to Turespaña, it has obtained the authorization from the Council of Ministers to tender the public works concession of the Congress Palace of Madrid, in the meeting held on 6 May 2025. The complex will undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation that began in 2023 with the renovation and expansion work of Building B to become the future headquarters of UNWTO. The new tender aims to concession the public works of the rest of the properties that make up the complex. The awardee will be responsible for drafting the execution project, carrying out the works and operating the Congress Palace and its parking for a concession period of 40 years in exchange for an annual fee that will be paid to Turespaña. The concession period is 40 years, including a project execution and works phase of 48 months. The CAPEX is 105.7 Million euros, and the project IRR is 7.65%. Once all administrative procedures have been completed, Turespaña will publish the tender on the Public Sector Contracting Platform and the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
