This concerns the creation and advice on habitat type maps and nitrogen-sensitive habitat type maps of Natura 2000 areas for which the Province of Gelderland is the lead contractor, in the period 2027 to 2030. The maps will be based on existing data (mainly vegetation surveys in combination with aerial photographs), supplemented, if necessary, with field controls to be carried out. The focus of the work lies on the habitat type maps. This concerns the creation of T1 and T2 maps. These are updates of the available T0 and T1 maps. It also concerns support in answering questions about habitat type maps, especially in relation to permit granting and management plan processes. The agreement mainly concerns office work (processing existing data), supplemented with field controls. The habitat type maps will be delivered as a GIS file with accompanying accountability document. For nitrogen-sensitive habitat type maps, it concerns the delineation and updating of nitrogen-sensitive habitat types. This also concerns both office work and field controls. The results will be delivered as a GIS file with accompanying explanatory report, and will be processed by the Province of Gelderland into habitat maps for AERIUS. Currently, as part of the national Improvement Programme VHR Monitoring (VVM), work is being done on method development for mapping nitrogen-sensitive habitat types. The outcomes of this will also determine how the content and scope of the work on habitat type maps will be.
