Tourism in the Spreewald is one of the strongest drivers and engines of regional value creation in Brandenburg. With around 2.2 million overnight stays (2024), the region is a top performer in the state and, due to its unique natural and cultural landscape (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve) and direct connection to Berlin and the eastern German cities of Dresden, Leipzig, Magdeburg, as well as its national fame, has great potential for the structural development of day and overnight tourism. Due to the extensive changes in the context of the structural change in Lusatia, as well as the resulting decreasing water resources, tourism will also have to reorient itself in the medium to long term. The Tourismusverband Spreewald e.V. therefore wishes to develop a new tourism strategy and the associated organisational structure in a four-year development process and requires expert support for its implementation.
