The Schwarzwald-Baar Klinikum Villingen-Schwenningen (hereinafter: SBK) is a teaching hospital of the University of Freiburg and a forward-looking central supply hospital. It is one of the ten largest non-university hospitals in Baden-Württemberg and one of the 80 largest hospitals in Germany. The facility with a total of approximately 3,300 employees and 1,000 beds treats around 45,000 inpatients and approximately 160,000 outpatients annually. The hospital has developed into the most powerful clinic in the region between the two university hospitals of Tübingen (to the east) and Freiburg (to the west): With 26 highly specialized departments and two private departments, the facility at the two locations of Villingen-Schwenningen and Donaueschingen offers a range of services comparable to maximum care.
