The "Spittelarche" weir and lock complex is located in the Lübben city moat. The city moat is a navigable waterway classified as first order. The weir was constructed in 1913, and the lock in 1937. There is no fish pass at the existing hydraulic structure. The structural assessment carried out in 2022 rated the stability of the hydraulic structure as 4 and the functionality of the weir as 5. The functionality of the lock is currently adequate. The weir is to be re-equipped with the necessary number of weir bays (n-1 conditions) and a closure type optimised for the site, in accordance with the specifications of the hydrological expert opinion still to be obtained. Additionally, a fish pass is to be planned.
