The Ludwig-Reinhard-Schule is a special needs school focusing on intellectual development and a learning centre for 172 students. Due to the intensive support, almost 100 educators and specialists are employed here. The existing structure can be divided into several building sections: Building Section West (built 1967, three-storey) is being completely renovated and extended to the west, Building Section Southwest (built 1987, two-storey + basement) is being renovated, Building Section Northwest (built 1967, single-storey) with a small sports hall and auditorium are being demolished and the auditorium is being rebuilt. Building Section North (built 2000, single-storey) remains untouched by the renovation measures, but during the construction period it houses 3 primary school classes as an interim solution. The new double sports hall is planned as a freestanding structure in the southeast of the property. The gross floor area of the existing structure is 18,535 m². After renovation and extension including the sports hall 37,634 m².
