The Mindener Parkhaus GmbH intends to award the planning services for the construction of a new parking garage at Marienwall to a general planner. The parking garage, built in 1978, is to be demolished and subsequently replaced by a modern parking garage. According to the expert assessment of the office Two For You from Leinfelden-Echterdingen, a modern parking garage with a sufficient number of parking spaces is not economically viable to operate due to the relatively low parking fees in Minden and the significantly increased construction costs. Therefore, financial support from the city is required. To reduce the investment costs for a new parking garage, it was examined after the meeting of the HFA on 28.08.2025 whether part of the trees could be partially preserved. Within the framework of the feasibility study of the architectural firm PM from Minden, the preservation of some existing trees in the course of the construction measure is possible with a reduction of the facade structure and a waiver of a semi-submerged basement. However, this would result in the loss of the facade greening, which is the correct approach in the context of tree preservation. Thus, a parking garage with up to 5 parking levels and a maximum of 225 parking spaces can be realised. The costs are estimated at around 5,7 million EUR (net).
