In 1955, the school building was constructed in the green area between Mindel and Mühlbach in Thannhausen. Since 1969, it has been used as the Volksschule Thannhausen and now houses the Anton-Höfer-Grundschule. From 1996-1999, the school was expanded to the north. The legal entitlement to a full-day place in the primary school now requires a further expansion of the existing primary school. A positioning of the new building as a standalone structure with approximately 1,000 m² of gross floor area is planned on the area used as a playground between the school building and Röschstraße. The outdoor facilities are to be redesigned in the immediate vicinity of the new building and for the connection to the existing structure; a redevelopment of the entire property Fl.Nr. 2118 with approximately 1.5 ha is not part of the competition task.
