Description

In the project 'Reconstruction and Modernisation of the Waste-to-Energy Plant' in Darmstadt, following the successful completion of the first construction phase (BA1), the second phase is now underway. This phase involves the complete dismantling of the existing incineration line 1 and, subsequently, the installation of a sewage sludge (KS) monotreatment plant (KSMB) in the form of a rotary kiln as line 5 in its place, particularly in building section (BT) 01. Additionally, the existing BT08, together with the new construction BT20, will be converted into a sewage sludge reception and interim storage facility. This measure is referred to as subproject (TP) 2 in the project. In TP4, a district heating (DH) decoupling station will be integrated into the existing BT03. In TP6, a complex facility will be installed in BT12 to grind, condition, and process the phosphorus-containing KS ash generated after the KSMB into a marketable fertilizer end product. Significant interventions in the building stock and new construction measures are required for these measures. The civil engineering and structural work is essentially limited to BT01, 03, 08, 12, 20 and 25. The most extensive measures are to be implemented in BT08. In addition to the extensive partial dismantling of the building stock, a large part of the floor slab must be lowered, which requires sectional underpinning of the surrounding building stock. To secure the remaining building stock during construction, the dismantling and new construction will be carried out alternately according to the dismantling concept. These include the new floor slab, the two massive KS reception bunkers with supports underneath, the new ceiling +3.60 m for truck delivery including girders and walls. The measures in BT08 will be supplemented by BT20, a newly constructed, flat-founded KS silo floor slab. The KS silos will be supported on the floor slab by means of steel construction, so that the necessary plant technology can be installed and weather-protected under the silos. In BT01, a massive DRO foundation from -6.50 m to +8.20 m, i.e. with a height of approximately 15 m, will be erected. Extensive partial demolitions of ceilings, supports and the boiler supporting structure of incineration line 1 are also required for this, in order to create the necessary construction clearance. Partial areas in the existing structure are to be covered with finished usable area with split clinker slabs. In BT12, among other things, a massive room made of masonry with a reinforced concrete ceiling at level 0 (±0.00) for a mill and a reinforced concrete trough for a vehicle scale are to be erected. Civil engineering and structural work with earthwork, disposal of construction materials generated, lightning protection/earthing of massive components etc. are required for the corresponding measures according to the specification with bill of quantities according to VOB.
