The Klinikum Dortmund is one of the largest hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia and, with around 4,900 employees, 25 clinics, 38 centres and 5 institutes, treats more than 315,000 patients annually. As a maximum care provider, the Klinikum Dortmund has 1,408 approved beds and is also a university hospital of the University of Witten/Herdecke. The sole provider of the Klinikum Dortmund, which is organised under the Klinikum Dortmund gGmbH, is the City of Dortmund. As a centre of maximum care, the Klinikum Dortmund offers top medical care in all specialties with the exception of psychiatry. It has two locations, Nord and Mitte. Currently, a number of different external laboratories perform analyses for the Klinikum Dortmund. The Klinikum Dortmund intends to bundle these services and award them to a qualified external laboratory that guarantees regular collection of sample material, complete analysis within the shortest possible time and with high quality, and reliable, timely transmission of findings. The Klinikum Dortmund gGmbH, as the contracting authority (hereinafter also "Klinikum Dortmund"), intends to award the required laboratory services to a contractor through a negotiated procedure with prior qualification.
