Germany – Financial and insurance services – Versicherungsleistungen für das Neubauprojekt "Campus Merheim"
Description
To optimize patient care and ensure the economic operation of the clinics in the city of Cologne, the Council of the City of Cologne has decided to concentrate treatment offers at a healthcare campus in Merheim. To bring together and further develop the treatment offer in a patient-centered and process-optimized manner, new buildings and extensions are being constructed at the Merheim site. Directly opposite the existing hospital to the north, the new building complex is being constructed. The new building complex consists of two essential units. The new children's hospital is being created in the western building section (Building 20d), and the extension for adult medicine with Integrated Emergency Center (INZ) on the ground floor, the operating room extension on the 1st floor, the center for obstetrics, gynecology and family medicine, and the breast center (2nd to 4th floors) is being created in the eastern section (Building 20c). The children's hospital will house the Integrated Emergency Center for Children (KINZ), the specialist outpatient clinics, the pediatric radiology and the Social Pedagogical Center (SPZ) on the ground floor, accessible and barrier-free. The children's hospital is being newly constructed as a spatial unit on the healthcare campus of the city of Cologne according to modern aspects of process optimization and climate adaptation. From the access road for the emergency service, the ramp for elective transfers to the children's emergency department (KINZ) in spatial proximity to the emergency department for adults (INZ), attention is paid to the possibilities of close cooperation. The extension is divided into a three-story, compact volume, which is particularly interlocked with the children's clinic on the ground floor and merges into a unit. Particular emphasis was placed on a flexibly, modularly structured floor plan, which can react to future changes in the space requirements of individual departments or within operational organizational processes without any problems. The elevator cores positioned centrally in the building (separated according to visitor/ passenger elevators, bed and logistics elevators) enable short distances within each level. Generous inner courtyards ensure sufficient natural lighting on the one hand, and orientation for patients and visitors on the respective levels on the other. The 4-story extension Building 20c and the 4-story children's hospital Building 20d are planned with a common basement for technology and a parking garage in a 7.80m grid. A skeleton structure is provided for the buildings, with only the walls within the access cores being used for the building stiffening. Due to the regularity of the dimensions, a high degree of prefabrication of the supporting structure is achieved, so that columns and ceilings can be partially executed in system construction. The ceiling system is planned as a reinforced concrete flat slab, the existing ceilings of the renovation area will be tested and adapted if necessary. The plans are not final and may change during the course of the project.
