Germany – Consultative engineering and construction services – Fachbegleitung Designumsetzung & Bemusterung von Schienenfahrzeugen für die S-Bahn Stuttgart

The Association Region Stuttgart ("VRS") is the contracting authority for the regionally significant rail transport with destinations and sources in the Region Stuttgart. The VRS plans to re-tender the transport services on the lines of the Stuttgart S-Bahn and selected branch lines. These include, in addition to the S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6/S60/S62, the two regional trains RB 64 (Teckbahn) and RB 11 (Schusterbahn). A combination of new and used vehicles is planned for the vehicle fleet. The vehicles of the ET 423 series currently in use are to be replaced by at least 60 new vehicles. In addition, 66 vehicles of the ET 430 series are to be taken over by the Association Region Stuttgart and made available to the future operator. Negotiations are currently being conducted for the takeover of a further 89 vehicles of the ET 430 series. If the takeover of the further 89 ET 430 is not feasible, 89 new vehicles would have to be provided instead. A total of three electrically operated regional train vehicles are planned for the Schuster and Teckbahn. The new vehicles are to be procured by the successful bidder of the tender for rail transport services. In preparation for the tender, the VRS had a design handbook prepared, which will be made available to the EVU in the tendering procedure. The design handbook serves as the basis for a uniform and consistent design of the future S-Bahn fleet. A design guideline for the regional train vehicles has also been derived from the design handbook. The design handbook describes in writing and visually the design principles and in particular the exterior design (painting, graphics) and the interior design (layout, design, zoning, essential equipment elements). The subject of the tender are consulting services for the further support of the design implementation and sampling of the rail vehicles to be procured by the EVU.
