The area currently used as a parking lot at Friedrichsberg S-Bahn station in Hamburg-Barmbek is to be converted for commercial use as a crafts and trade centre. The tree population characterizing the site will be preserved as far as possible. The external dimensions of the planned building with four storeys above ground and full basement are approximately 54 x 16 m. A total of 34 rental units with a usable area of approximately 36 – 90 m2 are planned on the ground and upper floors. Technical and storage rooms are accommodated in the basement. The building's shell will be constructed as a solid structure with column-free steel-concrete flat ceilings and load-bearing steel-concrete walls. The facade will have a full-brick plinth at ground-floor level. Above this, a sheet-metal facade with differently wide panels is planned. All rental units will have windows with ventilation and external impact protection to reduce noise. In addition to the entrance doors, sectional doors to the 7 rental units are planned for the ground floor. The roof is planned as a green roof without rainwater retention.
