The new rehabilitation hospital will be built on the healthcare campus to the north of the city centre of Mechelen, located on the R6. The project site is situated to the west of AZ Sint-Maarten and to the east of the Roosendaelveld care centre. The contract involves the realisation of a fully operational new rehabilitation hospital building for the National Multiple Sclerosis Centre of approximately 18,400m² gross floor area with external works but without medical and non-medical loose equipment. Beneath the building, there is a basement level with a therapy pool and a connecting tunnel to the adjacent Sint-Maarten Hospital. This connection with the Sint-Maarten Hospital would allow certain techniques to be shared with the new rehabilitation hospital building. All agreements regarding this (tunnel connection and sharing of techniques) will be detailed in the permit guidance in phase 2. The contractor is responsible for the construction of a new hospital building, including the landscaping, based on their own study, which in turn is based on the contract documents and what is included in the environmental permit. This contractor has a full contract for the entire execution of the contract. The full contract is specified below as a function of an Engineering & Build contract, therefore without any classical design component(s). The contract concerns, in short, a contract for the award of works as a performance obligation, according to the E&B formula, which also involves a services contract. The contractor is informed that they must realise the project within the predetermined task allocation budget and consequently also bear the responsibility and liability for it. The key words for the realisation are: sustainable, modern, innovative, perfectly coordinated; optimised in terms of operating costs, and this within the predetermined budget. The contractor will draw up a BIM execution model.
