Description

**Renovation and Expansion of Züttlingen Primary School Based on Feasibility Study, Plans, Floor Plans and Details Office Huber, Billigheim**

**1. Initial Situation and Objectives**

The primary school in the Möckmühl district of Züttlingen is located in an existing building at Jahnstraße 5, directly adjacent to the town hall and the church. The building has functional, spatial, and energy deficiencies that make comprehensive modernisation necessary. The project's goal is to renovate the existing building and expand it structurally to meet today's pedagogical, functional, and energy requirements. A holistic approach will be pursued, combining renovation, expansion, and energy efficiency in one project.

**2. Project Scope**

Based on a feasibility study, the following scope has been determined:

**2.1 Renovation of the Existing Building**

The existing primary school will be comprehensively modernised:

- Energy renovation (insulation, windows, building services)

- Barrier-free access (except for the attic)

- Optimisation of the room structure

- Modernisation of the sanitary facilities

- Adaptation to fire protection measures

**2.2 Expansion and Extension (New Construction)**

Based on the feasibility study, the expansion will take place in several building sections and storeys, creating new or enlarged areas:

**Ground Floor (GF)**

- Expansion of Classroom 1 (A = 70 m²)

- Expansion of Classroom 2 (A = 73 m²)

- Covered playground (A = 74 m²)

- New teachers' lounge (A = 49.86 m²)

**Basement (B)**

- New multi-purpose room (A = 72.78 m²)

- Food service and food preparation

- larger, flexible classrooms

- additional differentiation and group rooms

- a school library

- a multi-functional room for events

- improved teacher work areas

- optimised break areas (indoor and outdoor)

Through the investment, the school location in the district of Züttlingen will be made future-proof, sustainable, and pedagogically enhanced.

**4. Economy and Funding**

The planning deliberately focuses on building on the existing structure to reduce costs and utilise funding opportunities. As part of the feasibility study, a cost estimate was carried out: The cost estimate according to DIN 276 results in:

Gross construction costs: 3,800,000 €

Total costs excluding land, outdoor facilities, equipment: approx. 3.8 million €

**5. Interim Solution During Construction**

For the construction phase, the school operation must be relocated. A temporary container solution is planned. The planning of the container solution is also to be offered as a service (Special Service 3, Service Area 1)

**6. Urban Integration**

The structural expansion should harmoniously integrate into the urban landscape. The neighbourhood to the public buildings and open spaces is to be appropriately considered:

- respectful integration between the town hall and the church

- enhancement of the existing building

- clear access and path guidance

- new terrace and break areas, multifunctional usable

**7. Conclusion**

The project "Renovation and Expansion of Züttlingen Primary School" represents a comprehensive modernisation that creates a significant added value both pedagogically and structurally. The combination of renovation and expansion enables a sustainable, economically sensible, and fundable solution that strengthens the school in the long term and keeps the location of Züttlingen attractive.
