Ekerö Municipality intends to procure a digital, cloud-based library system for public and school library services, along with an associated public website for public library services. The purpose of the procurement is to ensure a long-term sustainable, flexible, and user-friendly digital infrastructure that supports the libraries in Ekerö's mission to promote reading, knowledge, participation, and democracy. The library system and associated public website must meet the current and future needs of residents, visitors, and staff, according to Annex – Specification of Requirements.

The Culture and Leisure Administration in Ekerö Municipality is the contracting authority and recipient of the procured system.

Current Situation

The Culture and Leisure Administration in Ekerö Municipality currently uses the Book-IT library system and the integrated website Axiell Arena Nova. Ekerö Municipality estimates that approximately 25 staff members in the Culture and Leisure Administration use the system and website today.

The number of library users in the library system is approximately 4,000 in school library services and approximately 10,000 in public library services. The number of visits to the public website is estimated at approximately 100,000 per year and occurs from both mobile phones and computers.

Timeline

Ekerö Municipality plans to award the procurement in November 2026 and requires that a new library system, along with installation, migration, and implementation, be fully functional and operational by no later than 15 March 2027.
