Refurbishment and expansion of the Westpfalz-Klinikum in Kirchheimbolanden

The Westpfalz-Klinikum is located on the western outskirts of Kirchheimbolanden and consists of several building sections of different ages. The oldest part of the complex is the 5-bed ward and the adjacent treatment building (outpatient clinics + operating theatre) from the mid-1950s. In the 1990s, extensions were added to the operating theatre department, the entrance area with cafeteria/staff dining facilities, and the intensive care unit. From 2000 onwards, additions were made to the delivery room, followed by the outpatient operating centre and the new medical director's office in 2011. The last addition was the 4-storey MVZ, directly connected to the emergency department. To the south, east, and north, there are residential areas, while to the west, there is no immediate development, only green meadows and fields that lead uphill to forested areas. As part of the planned measure, the hospital will receive a new building on the eastern side of the clinic, as well as an extension in a north-eastern building section.
