Refurbishment of the playground of St. Johann Primary School in the city of Konz

St. Johann Primary School has been selected to participate in the "Startchancen-Programm" of the Federal Government and the Federal States. This program aims to sustainably improve the performance of the German education system, increase educational and equal opportunities, and further break down the strong link between social origin and educational success. To properly address this program, 200 schools in Rhineland-Palatinate, including St. Johann Primary School, were selected, which have a high proportion of socio-economically disadvantaged pupils.

The Startchancen-Programm has a duration of 10 years (2024 to 2034) and is based on three pillars:

Pillar I: Investment program for structural measures, 70% financing, total funds for St. Johann

Pillar II: Chancenbudget for needs-based solutions for school and teaching development, full financing, 15,960.00 € per school year

Pillar III: Personnel to strengthen multidisciplinary teams, full financing, 78,360.00 € per school year

To enable the implementation of the Startchancen-Programm, a cooperation agreement was concluded between the State of Rhineland-Palatinate as the education provider and the City of Konz as the school provider. It is intended to redesign the playground belonging to the primary school as part of Pillar I. This concerns an area of approximately 3,700 m², including ancillary areas. The exact specifications for the redesign will be determined during the planning phase in cooperation with the school management, the school provider and the municipal committees and must comply with the guidelines of the funding program.
