General Part (for Lots 1–3)

The procurement covers planning services for the double-track expansion of the Brenzbahn between Aalen and Ulm. The scope of the services includes the planning of transport facilities, civil engineering structures including structural civil engineering structures and noise protection facilities, platform facilities with associated access routes, as well as the planning of 50-Hz facilities including points heating. The planning services serve to expand capacity, improve operational quality, and modernise the passenger transport infrastructure along the expansion route. The procurement is divided into three spatial planning lots.

Lot 1 – Aalen to Heidenheim-Schnaitheim

Lot 1 covers the expansion section from Aalen to Heidenheim-Schnaitheim. Key planning focuses are the stations Aalen, Unterkochen, Oberkochen and Königsbronn, the associated track sections, as well as the new constructions of the halts Aalen Süd and Oberkochen Süd. Furthermore, various road, footpath and railway overbridges, a pedestrian underpass, platform facilities, and further civil engineering structures and equipment facilities are to be planned.

Lot 2 – Heidenheim-Schnaitheim to Niederstotzingen

Lot 2 covers the expansion section from Heidenheim-Schnaitheim to Niederstotzingen. Key planning focuses are the stations Heidenheim-Schnaitheim, Heidenheim, Heidenheim-Mergelstetten, Herbrechtingen, Giengen, Hermaringen, Sontheim and Niederstotzingen, as well as the track sections in between. Additionally, the new constructions of the halts Heidenheim Süd and Bergenweiler, as well as several road and railway overbridges, retaining structures, noise barriers and further civil engineering structures are subject to planning.

Lot 3 – Rammingen to Ulm

Lot 3 covers the expansion section from Rammingen to Ulm. To be planned are the stations Rammingen, Langenau, Unterelchingen and Thalfingen, as well as the associated track sections including the new construction of the halt Ulm Messe. Furthermore, the lot includes several railway overbridges, retaining structures, extensive noise protection measures, platform facilities, and further civil engineering structures along the track section up to the Ulm junction.

Lot 4 – Overhead Line System (OLS)

Lot 4 covers the planning services for the overhead line systems along the expansion route of the Brenzbahn. This includes the necessary adaptations, renewals, and new constructions of the overhead line infrastructure, including the interfaces with the other specialist and expansion trades of the project.

Lot 5 – Signalling and Control Technology (S&CT) and Telecommunications (TC)

The subject of Lot 5 are the planning services for the signalling and control technology as well as the telecommunications facilities of the stations and open line. This includes the necessary adaptations and extensions of the signalling infrastructure as well as the telecommunications facilities, including the associated external and trackside facilities. The services are to be aligned with the requirements of the double-track expansion as well as future operational and transport requirements.
