Fribourg Hospital (HFR) is the public hospital institution of the canton of Fribourg. It groups together several sites spread across the Fribourg territory, offering a wide range of acute care, specialized medicine and outpatient services. Its mission is to provide the population with high-quality care while promoting innovation, training and interdisciplinary collaboration. Some of the services it offers fall within the field of expertise of nephrology – the service concerned by this procedure. The nephrology service cares for HFR patients at the Fribourg site (main site) and the Riaz site. In total, the service has 39 haemodialysis generators to care for these patients. A project to increase capacity is under study, which will add 3 new devices, bringing the total to 42 devices for the nephrology service. The nephrology service, located at the Fribourg and Riaz sites, has 39 haemodialysis generators – a number that will be increased by 3 devices in 2027 to reach a total of 42 devices.
