Germany – Underground work other than tunnels, shafts and subways – Errichtung einer Solarthermieanlage

The contracting authority operates various facilities for the generation and distribution of district heating to supply the city of Mühlhausen/Thüringen, including extensive district heating networks. As part of the energy transition and to substitute fossil fuel-based heat generation, in particular district heating generated by gas CHP, the contracting authority has decided to construct a solar thermal open-field plant with an associated heat transfer station (WÜST) at the Lehmgrube site in the municipality of Mühlhausen (Parcel 16, Parcels 107/30 and 344/106). The planning law basis is the project-specific land-use plan No. VEP-38 "Solar and Geothermal Energy Northwest of the Municipal Utilities" of the city of Mühlhausen, which designates a special area for "Solar and Geothermal Energy" (SOgo). The building permit was issued by the Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis with building permit No. 013/2026 of 05 February 2026. The project is also funded by ERDF funds (2021-2027) (approval period until 31 December 2027).
