Ireland – Parking services – Single Party Framework Consultancy for the Development of a Parking Strategy for Limerick

Limerick City Centre is undergoing a holistic change in the way that it manages its commuter traffic. The way in which commuters can use the road network within the city centre is being changed with the introduction of viable alternatives to the traditional car centric philosophies of the past. Enhancements through the introduction of Active travel infrastructure and future plans with respect to LSMATs and Bus connects projects will provide commuters with real viable alternatives when travelling to and from the City centre. The Mayoral program, supported by the Draft Limerick City Centre Transport Plan has the potential to enact further change in the way the city is viewed from a commuter perspective. Limerick City and County Council are aware that the proposed changes will create a number of opportunities and challenges for commuters, with one such challenge being the change to existing on street parking. It is the intention of this appointment to develop a parking strategy that will provide Limerick City and County Council a clear philosophy in the management of the existing and projected on street parking in the short, medium and long term as the projects outlined above come to fruition.
